Merry Christmas from the OSO group

The group recently had our annual Christmas dinner to celebrate another year of research. The evening also featured the unveiling of the OLED Christmas jumper! Happy holidays everyone!  

Group birthday celebrations

Today we celebrated Graham and David’s birthdays with a special group coffee and cake. Happy birthday!

Goodbye Ramakant!

Today we had a special group coffee to say farewell to Ramakant. We are very grateful to have worked with him and wish him the best of luck with his new job at Quantum Science ltd in Daresbury.

PhD graduations 2023

Congratulations to Dr Stefan Diesing (pictured) and Dr Junyi Gong for completing their PhDs in the OSC and graduating today.

Today we had a rare change of venue for our weekly coffee meeting. We gathered at the old students union cafe for warm drinks and interesting discussions.

Recently the group had drinks at Brewdog to wish Alfonso well. He is joining the Centre of Biophotonics here in St Andrews, led by Dr Paulo Annibale. https://biology.st-andrews.ac.uk/biophotonics/

Spooky OLED applications

For Halloween the School of Physics and Astronomy held a pumpkin carving event, and we found a spooky application for some of our OLEDs.

New PhD student Liam King

We are pleased that Liam King is now beginning his PhD with us. He is studying ultrafast organic light emitting devices, supervised by Prof Ifor Samuel.
