Wilson Sibbett memorial symposium
Yesterday the School of Physics and Astronomy held the Wilson Sibbett memorial symposium. The day featured several talks from Wilson’s friends and colleagues who spoke movingly about his impact on their lives, research, and the field of ultrafast photonics. Several members of the OSC attended the event, including past alumni of the group Alison McLeod, Mark Goossens, and Jonathan Markham. The talk sessions were chaired by Graham Turnbull and included presentations from Ifor Samuel and Alison McLeod. During the evening poster session Marianna, Mina, Junyi, and Liam also presented posters on their recent work. The event was a loving tribute to a man who’s legacy lies not only in his scientific contributions but also in the fond memories carried by those who knew him.
